Museum of the Patriotic War of 1812

Brief description: We will talk about events of great significance for our country and for the whole world in the early 19th century – the Patriotic War of 1812 and the Foreign Campaign of 1814

Guided tour component: In accessible English, about the events of the Patriotic War of 1812. Using museum exhibits as examples, we will discuss the following topics:

  • Reasons for the invasion of Russia
  • Course of military operations
  • War heroes and military commanders
  • The fate of Europe

The museum’s collection numbers more than 2000 exhibits. Among them are medals and orders, weapons and uniforms, personal belongings of the war’s participants, and archival documents…Special attention is given to Napoleon Bonaparte’s saber, Mikhail Kutuzov’s samovar, and the collection of awards of the French emperor. Multimedia features and a documentary film will complement the picture of events.

The quest’s intrigue:

Clues earned along the route will allow schoolchildren, at the finale, to find on Red Square the symbolic key to Moscow that Napoleon Bonaparte never received.
